Call for IWGSC Early Career speaker travel award

Early Career PAG 2020

Nominations are now being accepted for the prestigious IWGSC Early Career and speaker travel award for the primary IWGSC workshop that will be held at the Plant and Animal Genome Conference XXVIII in January 2020 .

Deadline: Friday 6 September

The individual selected to receive the IWGSC Early Career Award will receive a travel stipend of $1,000 (USD) to help defray the costs associated with participating in the workshop. Additional details on the IWGSC Early Career Award can be found here .

The recipient of the award will be expected to give a presentation on his or her work at the IWGSC workshop that will likely be held on Saturday 11 January 2020, from 8:00 to 10:10 am. The work must be related to the development or utilization of wheat genomic resources. We are particularly interested in talks related to the use and application of the IWGSC RefSeq v1.0 or IWGSC RefSeq v2.0.

Anyone can submit a nomination, or an individual may self‐nominate. Eligibility is restricted to graduate or post‐doctoral students, scientists who do not have a group, and scientists who received their Ph.D. between 2010 and 2020. Priority will also be given to individuals who have not spoken previously at an IWGSC workshop at PAG.

To nominate an individual or yourself, please send an abstract of the proposed talk and a c.v. to Kellye Eversole (eversole<at>eversoleassociates.com) by 6 September 23:59 US Eastern Daylight Savings Time. Abstracts are limited to 250 words.

Please note that the PAG organizers are enforcing several rules to ensure diversity of speakers at the various workshops. These include a prohibition on the same individual speaking in the same workshop two years in a row and a prohibition on giving the same or a highly similar talk in more than one PAG workshop. We will work with the organizers to enforce this rule and are setting an earlier deadline than in previous years for nominations to assist in this effort.
