The third business meeting of the IWGSC was held in conjunction with the International Triticeae Mapping Initiative (ITMI) summer workshop in Adelaide, Australia (August 2006), the week following the International Plant Molecular Biology Congress. During the meeting, a strategic roadmap for the development of a physical map for hexaploid wheat was delineated.

The second workshop of the IWGSC was held on January 14, 2006, at the Plant and Animal Genome (PAG) conference in San Diego, California.

The Europe an Triticeae Genomics Initiative (ETGI) was launched by the IWGSC European co-chair C. Feuillet and N. Stein of Germany representing the barley genomic community.

The first business meeting of the IWGSC was held in conjunction with the International Triticeae Mapping Initiative (ITMI) summer workshop in Bozeman, MT., USA, May 29^th-31^st, 2005. At this meeting, the white paper and the organizational documents were approved.
