Sequences

The long-term goal of the IWGSC is to obtain a high quality reference genome sequence of the bread wheat genome from cv. Chinese Spring anchored to the genetic maps with automated and manual annotation and data integration.

All sequences and assemblies are available at the IWGSC Sequence Repository at URGI .

In July 2018, all data related to the reference sequence of bread wheat, IWGSC RefSeq v1.0, were made available at URGI without restriction.

The following resources are publicly available, without registration, at the IWGSC Data Repository hosted by URGI-INRA:

Note on the sequence nomenclature

  • The first assembly released was IWGSC WGA v0.4 - available from June 2016. This assembly comprised the whole genome assembly of Chinese Spring Illumina short read data with NRGene's DeNovoMAGICTM corrected for chimera and assigned and ordered along chromosomes using POPSEQ and Hi-C.
  • The new assembly is IWGSC RefSeq v1.0 - released in January 2017. This assembly comprises IWGSC WGA v0.4 integrated with chromosomal resources that include: physical maps, sequenced BACs for 8 chromosomes + 2 chromosome arms, WGPTM sequence tags from BACs, optical maps (7A, 7B, 7DS) and SynOp RIL population and CSxRn (INRA) genetic maps.
