Abstract
As part of the IWGSC 6B chromosome sequencing project, 100x (6BS) and 90x (6BL) Illumina sequence coverage was generated in 100base paired end reads from 2-300bp fragments. The reads were assembled as part of the IWGSC CSS project by TGAC and independently mapped against the scaffolds generated from the 454 FLX Titanium sequencing of pooled MTP BACs.
We also generated approximately 13x sequence coverage of 6BS (4.94Gb) and 6BL (5.51Gb) using the Roche 454 FLX Titanium sequencer. 235 and 273 Mb of sequences were assembled covering 55.6 and 54.9% of the chromosome arms, respectively. A total of 4798 non-repetitive gene loci were predicted in the assembled sequences supported by evidence of expression from wheat transcriptome data.
