Abstract
The physical maps of chromosome 2AS and 2AL will be developed. Whole chromosome shotgun sequencing will be achieved as well and is the Indian contribution to the IWGSC survey sequencing initiative. BAC-end sequencing will facilitate identification of a large number of simple sequence repeat and other markers that will be used for reverse anchoring and for validation of sequence contigs from the shotgun sequence data.
