Project funding
Funding was awarded by the French Research Agency by the French Research Agency
ANR
and
France Agrimer
to the group led by Catherine Feuillet (Structure, function and evolution of the wheat genomes) at INRA GDEC Clermont Ferrand, France for the complete sequencing of the 1Gb chromosome 3B using a
BAC by BAC approach
and Next Generation Sequencing technologies. The 3BSEQ project was funded for 3 years (2010-2013) and was developed in partnership with the French National Sequencing center
Genoscope
and the INRA bioinformatics unit
URGI
.
Abstract
Within the framework of the 3BSEQ project. 50x depth of Illumina paired end sequence reads were generated using the Illumina GAIIx platform from 600bp fragments of flow-sorted 3B chromosomes. Assembly of the reads with ABySS contributed to the IWGSC survey sequencing project for the 21 bread wheat chromosomes and the reads and assembly were also used to improve the contiguation of BAC sequences and to correct errors in 454 sequence contigs as described by Aury et al. (BMC Genomics 9, 603 (2008)).
