May 2005 Business Meeting

The first business meeting of the IWGSCwas held in conjuction with the International Triticeae Mapping Initiative (ITMI) suwmmer workshop in Bozeman, MT, USA, May 29-31, 2005.  At this meeting, the white paper and the organizational documents were approved. 

Additionally, presentations of phase I  projects (pre-sequencing) were made and held about coordination of phase I projects that could include internationally supported proposals for submission to various U.S. and international agencies (e.g., the NSF, the USDA, the U.S.

Department of Energy, the BBSRC, the EC, etc.). Country reports, physical map construction (whole vs. chromosome based approach) and sequencing (whole vs. gene rich) strategies were discussed as well.
