12 January 2008: the seventh IWGSC business meeting was held at 3:35 p.m. in Pacific Salons 4 & 5 of the Town and Country Convention Center, San Diego. The business meeting was held in conjunction with the Plant and Animal Genome XVI Conference.

• An update of membership and sponsorship of the IWGSC
• An overview of the planned meetings and workshops in 2008
• An outline of the planned IWGSC projects for 2008 and a discussion of the need for additional chromosome sponsors for the development of the chromosome based physical maps
• The status of BAC library production and the propagation of deletion lines
• A brief discussion of future directions for annotation of the wheat genome
• And a discussion about the need for a review of the scientific strategies and objectives at the IWGSC business meeting that will be held in Australia in August 2008.

August 2006: IWGSCbusiness meetings at ITMI and development of strategic plan. The third business meeting of the IWGSCwas held in conjunction with the International Triticeae Mapping Initiative (ITMI) summer workshop in Adelaide, Australia, the week following the International Plant Molecular Biology Congress. During the meeting, a strategic roadmap for the development of a physical map for hexaploid wheat was delineated.
